CRTs 1-16

Collaboration with James Lam Scheuren

This collection is a collaboration with photographer and filmmaker James Lam Scheuren. The images are generated by an audio-video feedback system of CRT monitors, portable TVs, audio mixers, and electromagnetic pickups. Five of the sixteen prints are shown below. I built this system as both an installation and performable assemblage in which sound is seen but not heard (an excerpt of this performance is viewable at the bottom of this page). The visuals produce a non-cochlear sonic experience as they dance acoustically silent musical gestures complete with rhythm, dynamics, texture, and (in)stability.

CRTs 1-16 is currently on display at the Ruffin Gallery at the University of Virginia.
