Instruments, Circuits, & Electro-Experiments

I build instruments and circuits that frequently act as their own interactive compositions. Usually, I build these things for myself as part of my own solo performance practice. But sometimes, I build them for other people/ensembles as part of a commission for a new composition. I have built versions of the electro-objects you see here for artists including the SPLICE Ensemble, Popebama, and Doug Nottingham. When I build these things for other people, the inclusion of the physical item is always integral to the piece. But it also feels like an electro-mystical form of gift-giving, and it makes me think about composition as gift-giving in general.
